Program Eligibility

NursingCAS is open to accredited nursing programs that lead to RN (registered nurse) licensure. Programs that are eligible to participate are those that grant RN diplomas, associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degrees. Programs must have accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). If a program has new applicant status or is currently seeking accreditation from CCNE or NLNAC then it is at AACN’s discretion whether or not and at what point that program will be eligible to participate in NursingCAS. Additionally programs that have accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education are eligible to participate as well. Programs do not need to be members of AACN to participate.

This agreement to participate in NursingCAS is non-binding. Programs reserve the right to withdraw participation at any time. Should a program decide to voluntarily withdraw from NursingCAS, the designated administrator or primary point of contact for your institution must sign and date a NursingCAS Voluntary Withdrawal Form and complete an exit survey. You will need to notify AACN’s NursingCAS Manager, Caroline Allen, at 202-463-6930 x258 or of your decision and to obtain the required form. By signing this agreement, once you are live on the applicant portal and applicants are able to apply to your nursing program(s) through NursingCAS, your institution will honor and make admissions decisions (at the institution’s discretion) on those applicants that do apply. Fees will not be assessed to schools participating in NursingCAS. Programs are not expected to have all internal systems and software interfaces in place upon signing this agreement.
