Letter of Introduction

UKRAINIAN DIGITAL CREATORS

U.S. EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Washington, DC

September 18 - October 2, 2024

The Ukrainian Digital Creators U.S. Exchange Program aims to empower a diverse array of digital professionals from Ukraine, aged 18-30, including YouTubers, bloggers, Instagrammers, podcasters, and digital journalists, amidst Ukraine's challenges with social media misuse, disinformation, and cybersecurity threats. Scheduled from September 18 to October 2, 2024, this program will immerse participants in various facets of digital communication and activism.

During their time in the U.S., starting in Washington DC and another locality, participants will visit media organizations, digital startups, and civic institutions. They will engage in discussions with young social activists to understand effective strategies for amplifying social causes and gaining visibility. Meetings with policymakers and non-governmental organizations will provide a comprehensive view of policy aspects related to Ukraine, fostering a deeper understanding of international support mechanisms.

A highlight of the program will be a three-day retreat focused on initiating and brainstorming collaborative projects. Dedicated sessions will explore opportunities for partnership with DCN to support initiatives benefiting Ukraine. Set in an environment conducive to creativity and reflection, the retreat aims to provide a nurturing space for Ukrainian digital creators to share, reflect, and plan for the future.Participants will engage in discussions and workshops designed to enhance their digital skills, campaign strategies, and outreach techniques. Central to the retreat will be the incubation of collaborative projects that harness digital creativity and community engagement.

A core aspect of the program is its hands-on approach to digital literacy, equipping participants with tools to identify and combat disinformation effectively. Workshops will empower them to build online organizations and develop media campaigns that resonate with global audiences, enhancing awareness of Ukrainian issues and fostering international solidarity.
