Thurston County Public Health & Social Services’ Sanitary Code for Thurston County Article IV requires revision due to the recently adopted changes to Chapter 246-272A Washington Administrative Code (WAC), On-site Sewage Systems. On January 10, 2024, the Washington State Board of Health approved revisions to Chapter 246-272A WAC with an effective date for the majority of the changes of April 1, 2025. Article IV must be revised to be consistent with, and at least as stringent as, the newly revised WAC.
Environmental Health has revised Article IV to align with the updated WAC, incorporate existing polices, and clarify local requirements. The proposed draft will be shared with the Thurston County Board of Health (BOH) in January with details of the code discussed in February. A public hearing is planned during the March BOH meeting.
